, beyond basil’s famous culinary applications, it is also an excellent medicinal herb. It is one of the worlds great cure-all herbs. Among its many attributes it has powerful adaptogenic and anti-inflammatory properties that can support a healthy body to prevent illness, as well as help treat a wide variety of ailments from headaches, to colds and flu, to chest pain.
In Oriental medicine basil is also used to help calm the mind and spirit. Native to India, basil is sacred in Hindu traditions, where it is considered the “Queen of Herbs.” It is grown around temples to lift the spirit and protect against negative energies.
